About this deal

Climb the left edge of the groove to reach the high tide starting ledges. From here, move up and right to a ledge below a conspicuous V-notch in the arete. A good bold pitch based on the arete left of Phaedra. Start left of Phaedra. Climb the arete. Turn the roof on the left (thread) and continue up the wall and arete to the top. Shuffle down and right to climb a steep groove, the left side of a large flake, to a stance at the top as for Gogarth 3rd belay. The cliffs are host to colonies of seabirds (such as guillemots, kittiwakes, razorbills and even fulmars as well as gulls). The Great Orme is also home to many resident and migrant land birds including ravens, little owls and peregrine falcons. The Red-billed Chough is occasionally spotted.

The third township was Yn Wyddfid clustered below the Iron Age hill fort of Pen y Dinas at the northeastern "corner" of the Great Orme. With the reopening of the copper mines from the 18th century onwards, this township grew considerably in size with the streets and cottages of the mining village laid out on the largely abandoned agricultural holdings. Short and sharp direct off Gogarth pinnacle then nondescript climbing slightly left to the Gogarth belay, climb diagonally right to a groove, exit left to a belay at the base of the big flake on Gogarth. Medieval period [ edit ] Remains of the 13th-century palace at Gogarth belonging to the Bishops of Bangor (at 53°19′41.72″N 3°51′44.58″W / 53.3282556°N 3.8623833°W / 53.3282556; -3.8623833) The guide has been extensively researched by the Ground Up team which consists of Simon Panton (editor), Simon Marsh, Graham Desroy, Rob Wilson, Al Leary, Adam Wainwright, Martin Crook, George Smith, Pete Robins and James McHaffie. Specification The girdle of the Wen Slab, from the bottom right-hand corner to the top left. A fine climb, with technically sustained climbing in elegant positions. Start from the foot of the zawn, at the foot of the groove of Dde; or start from a notch in the arete, level with the first stance of Wen, reached by careful scrambling another 60 feet or so down from the abseil point. The significant agricultural yet north-facing township of Cyngreawdr includes the original parish church and rectory of St Tudno, a sixth- or seventh-century foundation. Following the Glyndŵr uprising, the villagers of the Creuddyn peninsula were harshly taxed and by 1507 they had nearly all fled their homes. Henceforth the cultivated land lay fallow and is now grazed by sheep and goats. Llandudno's Victorian cemetery, which is still in regular use, was laid out in 1859 adjacent to the 12th-century church of Saint Tudno where open-air services are held every Sunday morning in summer. Nearby are several large ancient stones that have become shrouded in folklore and also an unexplained stone-lined avenue called Hwylfa'r Ceirw leading towards Cilfin Ceirw (Precipice of Deer). Absolutely epic although got serious hot on the final slab in the afternoon sun. Lost a red offset, if anyone was there would love to be reunited with it. Yet another superb line, the first pitch has a hard crux and the sustained second pitch is one of the finest at Gogarth. Start 2m left of Hunger, about 12m left of the chimney of Mammoth Direct, directly beneath a line of undercut flakes.

Having climbed quite a few of these routes at Forywn and Gogarth pre and post pegging I think the new pegs work well and could also work well in some places in Scotland. Move left onto the arete. Descend to low tide level and traverse to belay at the foot of a clean cut groove. Ffynnon Tudno. Situated beyond the road, near the northeast corner of St Tudno's Church, ffynnon Tudno was, together with ffynnon Rufeining, a principal source of water for the community settled around the church. I’m going to have to get stronger and live to be a hundred to get even a small fraction of the routes in this bookdone"

From the ledge below Gringo, go up the arete to spike runners at 6m as for Wrangler, then traverse out left on good holds to jugs at the base of obvious scoop left of the tanned streak. Press into the scoop awkwardly, and then go up to gain a good break and good protection. Make a hard move through the bulge to reach the obvious leftward arcing flake, which leads steeply to great holds up and left and so the belay of Gringo etc.
